MINNEAPOLIS --
Alex Rodriguez (JR, Miami, Fla./Shattuck-St. Mary's (Minn.) HS),
Chandler Madry (JR, Bakersfield, Calif./Fairbanks (Alaska) BEST HS) and
Brett Bukowski (SR, Superior, Wis./Superior HS) scored goals for Augsburg University, as the Auggies moved into a tie for the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men's hockey lead with a 3-2 win over Gustavus Adolphus College on Saturday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• With the win and series split with Gustavus, the Auggies, ranked No. 14 in the latest USCHO.com Division III national poll, moved back into a first-place tie in the MIAC standings with both Gustavus and Saint John's. All three teams have 7-3-0 league records and 21 points.
• The Gusties took the lead 54 seconds into the second period, when a shot that initially was ruled not a goal was changed to a goal a minute later after an officials' conference. Augsburg then scored twice in a 2:33 span to take a 2-1 lead, but Gustavus tied the game late in the second frame.
• Augsburg took the lead for good at the 2:47 mark of the third period, when Bukowski snapped a shot for a goal from the left faceoff circle, assisted by
Jake Larson (JR, St. Michael, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville HS) and
Gunnar Goodmanson (FY, Buffalo, Minn./Buffalo HS).
• Rodriguez scored his fifth goal of the season 6:55 into the second period, assisted by
Evan Hesse (SR, Monticello, Minn./Palmer (Alaska) HS) and
Jason Krych (SO, Champlin, Minn./Totino-Grace HS). At the 9:28 mark, Madry scored his fifth goal of the year, a power-play marker from
Luke Dietsch (JR, St. Paul, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall HS) and
Nate Flynn (SR, Hastings, Minn./Hastings HS).
• Augsburg outshot Gustavus by a 34-30 margin in the game.
Nick Schmit (JR, Fargo, N.D./Fargo North HS) had 28 saves in goal for the Auggies to improve to 12-6-0 on the season.
• Madry had seven shots on-goal, while Rodriguez had five shots.
FOR THE FOES
• Colin Hernon scored for the Gusties 54 seconds into the second period, and Jared Bromberg scored from Hernon and Will LeNeave at the 15:34 mark.
• Robbie Goor had 31 saves in goal for Gustavus.
UP NEXT
• Augsburg returns to action with a series against St. Olaf next weekend. The Auggies host the Oles next Friday (1/26) at 7 p.m. at Ed Saugestad Rink, and face the Oles next Saturday (1/27) at 7:30 p.m. at the Northfield (Minn.) Ice Arena.
