MINNEAPOLIS --
Eric Brenk (JR, Moorhead, Minn./Moorhead HS) claimed his second multi-goal game of the season and sixth of his career, scoring twice to lead the Augsburg University men's hockey team in a 5-1 win over visiting St. Olaf College in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contest on Friday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Brenk scored twice, while
Luke Dietsch (JR, St. Paul, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall HS) and
Drew Anderson (SR, Rochester, Minn./Century HS) scored a goal and assist each for the Auggies, who claimed sole possession of first place in the MIAC standings with 24 league points. Gustavus, which lost 1-0 to Saint Mary's on Friday, and Saint John's, which is idle this weekend, both have 21 points and are tied for second place.

Tommy Carey (FY, Moorhead, Minn./Moorhead HS) opened the scoring for the Auggies with his first collegiate goal, assisted by
Chandler Madry (JR, Bakersfield, Calif./Fairbanks (Alaska) BEST HS) and
Matt Nehls (FY, Boulder, Colo./D.C. West HS) at the 9:45 mark of the first period.
• Dietsch scored the first of Augsburg's two power-play goals in the game late in the first period, assisted by Anderson and
Max Pernhem (SR, Stockholm, Sweden/Dragonskolan).
• Brenk scored his first goal of the game at the 4:19 mark of the second period, assisted by
Lukas Gillett (JR, Rosemount, Minn./Rosemount HS) and
Eli May (SR, Eagan, Minn./Eagan HS), and Anderson scored on a 5-on-3 power play in the final second of the frame, assisted by Dietsch and
Nate Flynn (SR, Hastings, Minn./Hastings HS).
• Brenk capped the scoring with his second goal of the game and eighth of the season, fed by Pernhem and Gillett, at the 13:50 mark of the third period.
• Augsburg outshot St. Olaf by a 32-30 margin in the game.
Nick Schmit (JR, Fargo, N.D./Fargo North HS) had 29 saves in goal for the Auggies to improve to 13-6-0 on the season.

• With his assist, Flynn remains in a tie for the lead among
MIAC players in overall statistics with 22 points (12 goals, 10 assists).
• Madry's 15 assists this season put him in a tie for the MIAC overall lead in assists.
