Olmscheid leads Auggies in 80-60 win over Pipers

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Collin Olmscheid (SR, Buffalo, Minn./Buffalo HS) led the Augsburg University men's basketball team with a 26-point effort in an 80-60 victory over Hamline University in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action on Wednesday evening. With five conference games to play, the Auggies are currently tied for third in the MIAC standings.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Hamline grabbed the opening bucket of the game, but that would be their only lead of the night,  as Augsburg countered with a 12-1 run. Augsburg went on to lead for 38:03 of the action and extended their lead to as many as 22 in the final minute of play.
• Olmscheid was an impressive 9-for-11 from the field, while adding a game-high nine rebounds, an assist and a steal. Olmscheid has scored 24-plus points in three of his last four contests. Olmscheid leads the MIAC's overall statistics in scoring average (19.3 ppg) and free-throw percentage (90.1 percent).
• Also finishing in double figures for Augsburg were Kevin McKiernan (JR, Savage, Minn./Prior Lake HS) and Harry Sonie (SR, Burnsville, Minn./Apple Valley HS). McKiernan scored 14 points, including a 4-of-7 effort from three-point range, while adding four rebounds. Sonie paced Augsburg with five assists, while adding six rebounds and a pair of steals to his 11 points.
Booker Coplin (SO, Shakopee, Minn./Shakopee HS), added nine points, six rebounds and three assists for the Auggies.
• For the game, Augsburg shot 50.0 percent (28-of-56) from the field, while Hamline was held to just 37.5 percent (18-of-48) shooting. The Auggies have shot better than 50 percent from the field in eight games this season and are 8-0 in those contests.
• Augsburg posted a 39-24 advantage on the boards and was able to outscore the Pipers 30-16 in points in the paint.

FOR THE FOES
• Hamline finished with three players in double figures, led by a 16-point effort from Dylan See-Rockers. 
• Nicholas Powell added 14 points and five rebounds, while Zach Smith added 10 points and four assists for the Pipers.
