Coplin's double-double leads Augsburg past Concordia

MOORHEAD, Minn. -- Booker Coplin (SO, Shakopee, Minn./Shakopee HS) posted his fourth career double-double, as the Augsburg University men's basketball team claimed a 70-55 victory at Concordia College-Moorhead in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action on Saturday afternoon. With four conference games to play, the Auggies currently sit in third place in the MIAC standings.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Coplin led Augsburg with 19 points, shooting an impressive 8-for-12 from the field, and 3-for-4 from three-point range, while tying a career-best with 12 rebounds. He added an assist and a pair of steals.
• The Auggies jumped out to a 12-5 lead and never trailed in the contest, extending their lead to as many as 20 points late in the game. With the win, Augsburg swept the season series with the Cobbers.
Kevin McKiernan (JR, Savage, Minn./Prior Lake HS) also had an impressive shooting afternoon for Augsburg, connecting on 7-for-11 from the field and 4-for-6 from beyond the arc. McKiernan added a pair of rebounds and an assist on the afternoon. He leads Augsburg with 37 made three-pointers on the season.
• Also finishing in double figures for the Auggies was Collin Olmscheid (SR, Buffalo, Minn./Buffalo HS) and Harry Sonie (SR, Burnsville, Minn./Apple Valley HS). Olmscheid posted 16 points and added six rebounds, while Sonie finished with 11 points and a game-high five assists.
• In the MIAC's overall statistics, Olmscheid leads the league in scoring average (19.1 ppg) and free-throw percentage (90.2 percent), while Sonie ranks fourth in assists (3.8 apg) 
• For the game, Augsburg shot 48.2 percent (27-of-56) from the field, while the Cobbers were held to just 38.2 percent (21-of-55) shooting. Augsburg is now 14-1 when shooting better than 41.8 percent from the field this season.
• Augsburg posted a 34-33 advantage on the boards and was able to outscore the Cobbers 21-10 in points off-turnovers.

FOR THE FOES
• Concordia finished with three players in double figures, led by 15 points from Bryden Urie. 
• Collin Larson led the Cobbers on the boards, pulling down eight rebounds, while adding 11 points.
