MINNEAPOLIS -- The Augsburg University women's basketball team used a strong defensive effort, forcing a season-high 35 opponent turnovers, as they claimed another important Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference victory, topping St. Olaf College 71-46 on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Auggies jumped out to a quick 11-2 advantage and would never give up the lead. The Augsburg defense forced 35 St. Olaf turnovers, which the Auggies converted into a 51-10 advantage in points off-turnovers. Augsburg picked up a season-high 23 steals in the scrappy defensive effort.
• The Auggie offense had another balanced scoring attack, with five players finishing with nine or more points.Â
Camryn Speese (SO, Bloomington, Minn./DeLaSalle HS) led the Auggies with 15 points and five rebounds, while tying a career-high with six steals.Â
• Augsburg recorded 20 assists on 26 made baskets on the afternoon, withÂ
Tamira McLemore (SO, Eagan, Minn./Eagan HS) andÂ
Arianna Jones (SO, Brooklyn Park, Minn./Osseo HS) leading the way. McLemore dished out seven assists, to go along with 11 points and six steals, while Jones recorded five assists and 14 points, connecting on 4-of-6 from three-point range.
• Also finishing in double figures for Augsburg was K'Aezha Wubben (SO, SO, Minneapolis, Minn./Hopkins HS), who scored 12 points, shooting 5-of-7 from the field.
• For the game, Augsburg shot 37.7 percent (26-of-69) from the field, while St. Olaf connected on 39.5 percent (17-of-43) of its shot attempts.
• St. Olaf claimed a 41-34 advantage on the boards, but Augsburg posted a 17-10 advantage in second-chance points and a 13-0 advantage in fast-break points.

• Augsburg is 8-0 this season in games when shooting better than 37.0 percent from the field.
• It's the seventh time this season that Augsburg has scored 70-plus points. Augsburg's 67.5 points per-game average is fourth-best
among MIAC teams in overall statistics.

• St. Olaf was led by Samantha Tisa, who scored 15 points, shooting 6-for-9 from the field.
• On the boards the Oles were led by Makenna Ash, who pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds and added four points.
