Augsburg scores sweep of Scots

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- The Augsburg University volleyball team was able to tally another Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference victory, defeating Macalester College in a three-set sweep on Friday night at Si Melby Hall.

FINAL SCORE: Augsburg def. Macalester 3-0 (25-10, 25-10, 27-25)

RECORDS: Augsburg 18-5 overall (5-3 MIAC), Macalester 9-14 overall (0-8 MIAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
• After winning decisive first and second sets, both by 25-10 scores, Macalester clawed its way back in the third set. But the Auggies were able to take care of business, winning the third set 27-25 for the match victory. 
• Pacing the Auggies offensively was Kayla Gjerde (FY, Afton, Minn./Stillwater HS) who had eight kills, while adding three digs. Corrina Evans (SO, Blaine, Minn./Blaine HS) chipped in seven kills, hitting at a .462 clip. 
Morgan Malley (SR, Harmony, Minn./Fillmore Central HS) had 29 assists for the Auggies, to go along with six digs, three kills and a service ace. 
Megan Quam (JR, Kenyon, Minn./Kenyon-Wanamingo HS) and Jade Boysen (FY, Rochester, Minn./Mayo HS) has five kills each, with Boysen collecting four blocks (one solo) and Quam collecting three blocks. 
• On the defensive side of the ball, Macey Terhell (SR, Osceola, Wis./Osceola HS) had a match-best 23 digs, while Sydnie Zachary (JR, Apple Valley, Minn./Bloomington Jefferson HS) and Lexie Lang (FY, Rochester, Minn./Mayo HS) added eight and seven digs respectively. 
• As a team, Augsburg hit .252 in the match, while holding Macalester to a .000 hitting percentage. 

FOR THE FOES
• Nicole Bennington led Macalester with nine kills. 
• Emily Bowler had 14 assists and eight digs, while Sofi Ascencio notched 10 digs and six kills.
