St. Thomas stops Augsburg winning streak

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The Augsburg University volleyball team was unable to find its rhythm, seeing its eight-match win streak end in a three-set Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference loss at the University of St. Thomas on Wednesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Augsburg was not able to put the pieces together in a straight-set loss to St. Thomas in a key MIAC match. 
• Sydnie Zachary (JR, Apple Valley, Minn./Bloomington Jefferson HS) paced the Auggies, finishing with 10 kills, hitting at a team-best .296. She also added four digs, two block assists and a service ace. 
• Right-side hitter Megan Quam (JR, Kenyon, Minn./Kenyon-Wanamingo HS) chipped in six kills, five digs and a block assist. 
• Jade Boysen (FY, Rochester, Minn./Mayo HS), Corrina Evans (SO, Blaine, Minn./Blaine HS) and Kayla Gjerde (FY, Afton, Minn./Stillwater HS) all had four kills for the Auggies. 
• Macey Terhell (SR, Osceola, Wis./Osceola HS) led the Auggies with 13 digs, while adding a service ace. Morgan Malley (SR, Harmony, Minn./Fillmore Central HS) recorded 24 assists, 10 digs, a kill and a service ace. 

FOR THE FOES
• Fran Egan had match-best 13 kills for the Tommies. 
• Madie Kroehler had 16 digs, nine kills, three service aces and a block assist. 
• Katharine Mallak tabbed 35 assists, eight digs, three kills, two block assists and two service aces.

• Augsburg returns to action on Friday (10/5) at 7 p.m. when it hosts the College of St. Scholastica at Si Melby Hall.
