Augsburg drops 5-set heartbreaker to UW-Stout

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- In its first five-set match of the season, the Augsburg University volleyball team dropped a hard-fought 3-2 loss to the University of Wisconsin-Stout in nonconference action on Saturday morning at Si Melby Hall. 

THE BASICS 
FINAL SCORE: UW-Stout def. Augsburg 3-2 (12-25, 25-23, 16-25, 25-22, 15-9)

RECORDS: Augsburg 17-4 overall, UW-Stout 9-9 overall

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Augsburg offense finished with four players with double-digit kills. Jade Boysen (FY, Rochester, Minn./Mayo HS) had an outstanding performance for the Auggies, recording a career-best 11 kills -- hitting at a team-best .346 clip -- to go along with a career-best 10 block assists. Boysen is the only Auggie that has a kill-block double-double this season. 
• Outside hitter Kayla Gjerde (FY, Afton, Minn./Stillwater HS) also claimed 11 kills, while adding six block assists, eight digs and an assist. 
• Both Sydnie Zachary (JR, Apple Valley, Minn./Bloomington Jefferson HS) and Corrina Evans (SO, Blaine, Minn./Blaine HS) had 10 kills for the Auggies. Zachary added 12 digs, a block assist and a service ace. Evans chipped in six blocks (four assists, two solo).
• Libero Macey Terhell (SR, Osceola, Wis./Osceola HS) claimed an impressive 30 digs, which is the second time this year and 12th time in her career having 30 or more digs. Terhell also adding six assits, three service aces and a kill. 
• Morgan Malley (SR, Harmony, Minn./Fillmore Central HS) had another assist-dig double-double performance, with 39 assists and 20 blocks. Also claiming three kills, a block assist and a service ace. 
• In the match, Augsburg had a season-high 16 team blocks. This is Augsburg's 13th match with 7.0 or more team blocks and its seventh match with double-digit team blocks -- its third in its last five matches. 

FOR THE FOES
• Lexie Nelson had a match-best 27 kills, while adding 17 digs and two service aces. 
• Jessica DuVal claimed 54 assists, 27 digs and two kills for the Blue Devils. Steph Cannon had a match-best 31 digs.

• Augsburg returns to action on Wednesday (10/10) at 7 p.m., traveling to the College of Saint Benedict for a key Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match.
