Auggie women open campaign with big win over Storm

MINNEAPOLIS -- With all 17 dressed players seeing game action and 13 scoring, the Augsburg University women's basketball team opened its 2018-19 season with a 94-25 nonconference win over visiting Crown College on Thursday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Trailing 4-1 after the first 41 seconds of play, Augsburg scored 21 straight points to build a double-digit lead, eventually stretching the advantage to 37-8 after one quarter and 62-15 at halftime. Augsburg eventually spread the lead to as many as 70 points in the second half and 69 points at the final buzzer.
• Augsburg hit 43.8 percent (32-of-73) from the field, including 10 three-pointers. Crown was limited to just 14.0 percent (8-of-57) shooting from the field. The Storm also turned the ball over 33 times, which the Auggies turned into 39 points. The Auggies held a 38-10 advantage in points in the paint and a 22-4 advantage in fast-break points.
• Aiza Wilson (JR, Minneapolis, Minn./DeLaSalle HS) led the Auggies with 16 points on 4-of-6 shooting from three-point range, adding four rebounds and four assists.
• Nicole Zielsdorf (SO, Arden Hills, Minn./St. Anthony Village HS) scored 12 points with three steals, and Selena Lor (FY, Winona, Minn./Winona HS) made her Auggie debut an impressive one, scoring 11 points with 10 rebounds and six assists.
• Camille McCoy (SR, Brooklyn Park, Minn./Park Center HS) scored 10 points with three rebounds, and Tamira McLemore (JR, Eagan, Minn./Eagan HS) and Kaezha Wubben (JR, Minneapolis, Minn./Hopkins HS) scored nine points each. Arianna Jones (JR, Brooklyn Park, Minn./Osseo HS) had eight assists, five rebounds and five steals, while scoring five points.
• Augsburg claimed assists on 27 of its 32 made field goals in the contest.
• Augsburg outrebounded Crown by a 56-39 margin. All but two of the 17 players who saw game action grabbed at least one rebound in the game.

 FOR THE FOES
• Damonyka Roberts and Stevey De La Ossa scored seven points each to lead Crown.
• Crown's Brooke Honeck had seven rebounds and Rose Crowns had six rebounds.
