Nikki Nightengale (JR, Bloomington, Minn./Jefferson HS) had a goal and assist each as part of a six-goal outburst by Augsburg University, opening Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's hockey with a 6-2 road victory over Bethel University on Friday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Augsburg outshot Bethel by a 35-16 margin, including a 27-13 advantage in the final two periods, where the Auggies scored five unanswered goals to break a 1-1 first-period tie.
• Johnson broke the 1-1 tie with a power-play goal from
Mackenzie Molnar (JR, Inver Grove Heights, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall HS) and Nightengale at the 6:42 mark of the second period, while Nightengale scored Augsburg's fifth goal of the game, an unassisted marker in the third period. Johnson assisted on a goal from
Mikayla Jones (JR, Oak Park Heights, Minn./B.E. Emerson Prep HS) at the 13:44 mark of the third period.
• In the second period,
Bridget Wagner (JR, Niles, Ill./Maine South HS) scored an unassisted goal, and
Bridget Walter (SR, Princeton, Minn./Princeton HS) scored from

• Playing in her 65th collegiate game,
Bailey Beane (SR, Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater HS) scored her first collegiate goal at the 14:03 mark of the first period, assisted by

Jacie Hoehn (SR, Waseca, Minn./Kasson-Mantorville HS).Â

McKenna Manalli (SR, Byron, Ill./Byron HS) collected 14 saves to pick up the victory.
FOR THE FOES
• Bri Stafne had a goal and an assist for Bethel, scoring an unassisted goal at the 17:51 mark of the first period, and assisting, along with Sydnee Hanson, on a goal by Bailey Thompson at the 14:40 mark of the third period.
• Mallory Tidona had 29 saves in goal for the Royals.
