Balanced attack leads Auggies past St. Scholastica

DULUTH, Minn. -- The Augsburg University women's basketball team showed its depth, finishing with seven players scoring eight or more points, as the Auggies cruised past the College of St. Scholastica in nonconference action on Saturday afternoon at Reif Gym.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Augsburg jumped out to a 12-0 advantage and never looked back, leading by as many as 32 points before cruising on to a 71-49 victory over the Saints. Augsburg leads the all-time series over St. Scholastica 7-4, having prevailed in the last seven consecutive meetings between the two teams.
• Tamira McLemore (JR, Eagan, Minn./Eagan HS) paced the Augsburg offense finishing with 13 points in just 19 minutes of action. She was 5-of-6 from the floor on the afternoon and a perfect 3-for-3 from beyond the arc. McLemore has scored at least one three-pointer in 28 straight games, dating back to the second game of the 2017-18 season.
 • Kaezha Wubben (JR, Minneapolis, Minn./Hopkins HS) and Jazmyn Solseth (SO, Inver Grove Heights, Minn./St. Croix Lutheran HS) both had solid shooting afternoons, finishing with 12 and 10 points respectively. Wubben and Solseth combined to shoot 7-of-12 from the field and a perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line. Solseth tied for a team-best seven rebounds, while Wubben tied for a team-best three steals.
 • Point guard Arianna Jones (JR, Brooklyn Park, Minn./Osseo HS) recorded a game-high six assists, while adding eight points and three steals.
• On the boards, Camryn Speese (JR, Bloomington, Minn./DeLaSalle HS) pulled down seven rebounds, while adding eight points and Camille McCoy (SR, Brooklyn Park, Minn./Park Center HS) added six rebounds and nine points. 
• Aiza Wilson (JR, Minnepolis, Minn./DeLaSalle HS), who is currently ranked third in the conference in made three pointers, had another solid performance finishing 3-for-6 from beyond the arc, while adding three assists and a blocked shot.
• For the game, Augsburg had its best shooting performance of the season connecting on 44.1 percent (26-of-59), while St. Scholastica was held to just 28.1 percent (18-of-64). For the second consecutive game the Auggies posted a double-digit advantage on the boards, outrebounding the Saints 46-36, which led to a 13-5 advantage in second chance points. Despite Augsburg committing a season-high 23 turnovers, the Auggies were still able to post a 21-14 advantage in points off turnovers.

 FOR THE FOES
• St. Scholastica was led by Kaylee Kennedy, who finished with a game-high 15 points and added a game-high four steals.
• Michala Walther added 12 points and added three rebounds for the Saints.
