Augsburg falls to No. 20 Loras

DUBUQUE, Iowa -- The Augsburg University men's basketball team fell 89-66 to No. 20 ranked Loras College in nonconference action on Saturday evening at Lillis Court.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The first 16 minutes of action were evenly contested, with neither team able to extend their lead to more than seven. Augsburg trailed 27-25 with 4:03 left to play in the half, but the Duhawks closed out the frame on a 12-4 run. The Auggies trailed 39-29 at the half and couldn't overcome the deficit as they fell to a strong Loras squad.
• Augsburg was led offensively by Martin Mitchell (JR, Apple Valley, Minn./Eastview HS), who tied a career-high with 15 points. Mitchell finished 6-for-8 from the field and 3-of-5 from three-point range.
• Leading Augsburg on the boards was Booker Coplin (JR, Shakopee, Minn./Shakopee HS), who finished with a 13-point, 13-rebound effort. Coplin added five assists and four steals.
Henry Mulligan (JR, Iowa City, Iowa/Iowa City HS) added nine points, while Isaiah Robinson (JR, Apple Valley HS/Henry Sibley HS) added six points and four boards.
• Augsburg shot 41.3 percent (26-of-63) from the field and was held to just 21.4 percent (6-of-28) from three-point range. Loras connected on 49.3 percent (35-of-71) from the field and 44.4 percent (8-of-18) from three-point range. Loras posted a 49-34 advantage on the boards.

FOR THE FOES
• The Duhawks finished with four players in double figures, led by Jordan Boyd, who finished with a 19-point, 11 rebound double-double.
• Ryan DiCanio added 17 points, while Demond George added 14.
