Augsburg falls just short at Concordia

MOORHEAD, Minn. -- The Augsburg University women's basketball team had a chance to tie the game with under 30 seconds to play, but couldn't convert in falling 78-74 at Concordia College-Moorhead in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Trailing 76-74, the Auggies had a good look at a layup with 21 seconds to play, but couldn't make it fall and were forced to foul. Concordia hit both free throws to go up 78-74 and that is where it would stay, as Augsburg dropped a hard-fought game to the Cobbers.
• Tamira McLemore (SO, Eagan, Minn./Eagan HS) scored a season-high 27 points to lead the Auggies. She shot 7-of-14 from the field and a perfect 11-for-11 from the free-throw line, while adding five rebounds and a team-high five assists.
• Also scoring in double figures for the Auggies were Aiza Wilson (SO, Minneapolis, Minn./DeLaSalle HS) and Camryn Speese (SO, Bloomington, Minn./DeLaSalle HS). Wilson finished with 14 points on 5-of-9 shooting, while Speese shot 4-for-8 from the field, and 4-for-4 from the free-throw line, for 12 points.
• For the game, Augsburg shot 40.4 percent (23-of-57) from the field and a solid 19-for-20 from the free-throw line. The Cobbers connected on 47.1 percent (24-of-51) of their shot attempts, including 57.9 percent (11-of-19) from three-point range.
• Augsburg posted a 35-31 advantage on the boards and forced 17 turnovers, while only committing 11. The Auggies claimed a 16-9 advantage in second-chance points.

 FOR THE FOES
• Concordia was led by the duo of Lincoln Haiby and Grace Wolhowe, who scored 20 points apiece.
