MINNEAPOLIS -- The Augsburg University men's basketball team posted a 79-66 win over the University of St. Thomas in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action on Wednesday evening. With the win, the Auggies completed the season sweep of St. Thomas, after posting a 62-52 win on Jan. 8 in St. Paul. The season sweep of the Tommies marks the first time Augsburg has swept St. Thomas since the 1998-99 season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Auggies started strong, jumping out to an early 11-0 lead. The Tommies rallied back and took their first lead of the game, a 29-28 advantage with 7:34 remaining in the half. The teams went basket-for-basket for the remainder of the frame, with Augsburg getting the final hoop, taking a 37-35 lead into the locker room at the intermission. In the second half, Augsburg used a key 14-2 run midway through the frame to claim its largest lead of the night, a 16-point advantage. The Auggie lead never dipped to single digits as they picked up another important MIAC victory.
• With two regular season games remaining, Augsburg sits in third place in the MIAC standings, a half-game ahead of fourth-place Bethel.

Booker Coplin (SO, Shakopee, Minn./Shakopee HS) scored a career-high 24 points, dished out six assists -- which tied a career-best mark -- and added 10 rebounds for his fifth Auggie career double-double. Coplin was outstanding in the second half, scoring 20 of his 24 points, shooting 9-for-11 from the floor in the frame.
• Marking his 12th 20-plus-point performance of the season,
Collin Olmscheid (SR, Buffalo, Minn./Buffalo HS) scored 28 points, connecting on 10-of-17 from the floor, while adding five rebounds and a pair of assists. Olmscheid remains in the
MIAC lead in overall statistics in scoring, averaging 20.0 points per-game. In his career, Olmscheid has now scored 1,733 points, which ranks fourth all-time in school history.
• Also scoring in double figures for Augsburg was
Kevin McKiernan (JR, Savage, Minn./Prior Lake HS), who finished with 15 points, while adding four assists.

Chany Pal (SR, Fridley, Minn./Fridley HS) pulled down seven rebounds, while
Harry Sonie (SR, Burnsville, Minn./Burnsville HS) dished out five assists and added nine points.
• For the game, Augsburg shot 45.5 percent (30-of-66) from the field, while the St. Thomas connected on 48.3 percent (28-of-58) of its shot attempts. The Tommies were held to just 19.0 percent (4-of-21) from three-point range.
• The Auggies claimed a 37-32 advantage on the boards and posted a 16-8 advantage in points off turnovers.
FOR THE FOES
• The St. Thomas reserves led the way offensively, outscoring the Augsburg reserves 46-0.
• Connor Bair, finished 11-of-14 from the floor, for a team-best 23 points. Steffan Musoke added 13 points and six rebounds for the Tommies.
