WINONA, Minn. -- The Augsburg University baseball team scored a doubleheader split in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action at Saint Mary's University on Wednesday, taking advantage of another pair of complete-game pitching efforts.

THE BASICS

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
• Pitcher Jamie Kaye (JR, Bloomington, Minn./Jefferson HS) threw his fifth complete-game of the season, improving to 4-3 on the season with a five-strikeout, one-walk effort, allowing just six hits and an unearned run. Of his 102 pitches in the game, 75 were strikes.
• A four-run fifth inning, keyed by a two-run double by Mike Brookshaw (JR, Prescott, Wis./Prescott HS) and RBI singles by Clayton Bodine (JR, Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata HS) and Keane Turner (SR, Clinton, Minn./Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley HS), broke the game open.
• Augsburg tied the game at 1-1 in the fourth, as Brookshaw came around to score on an RBI fielder's choice by Ryan Masui (JR, Chanhassen, Minn./Minnetonka HS). 
• Jordan DeCroock (SR, Farmington, Minn./Farmington HS) led off the seventh inning by reaching base on a fielding error. He stole second, a pair of walks followed to load the bases, and Zach Bakko (SR, Northfield, Minn./Northfield HS) drove DeCroock home on a sacrifice fly.
• Brookshaw had three of Augsburg's eight hits in the game, driving home two runs and scoring two more. Bodine had two hits in the game.

GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
• Augsburg surrendered three runs in the first inning and could not catch the Cardinals after that, despite scoring a run in the third inning and two more in the fifth.
• Jacob Kari (SR, North Branch, Minn./North Branch HS) threw Augsburg's fourth straight complete game, and his second of the season, claiming two strikeouts against a walk and seven hits. Two of the runs charged to him were unearned.
• Bodine plated Donovan Tomony (SO, Madison, Wis./Madison East HS) on a sacrifice fly in the third inning. 
• Walker Rogers (SO. Inver Grove Heights, Minn./Simley HS) led off the fifth inning with a double, moved to third on a groundout, and scored on an RBI double by Bodine. A passed ball moved Bodine to third, and Turner hit a sacrifice fly to drive in Bodine.
• Augsburg managed just four hits in the second game -- Rogers' and Bodine's doubles, and singles by DeCroock and Bakko.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
• Kaye's five complete games are tied with teammate Dayton Danielson (SO, St. Charles, Minn./St. Charles HS) for the most among MIAC pitchers in overall statistics so far this year.
• As a team, Augsburg pitchers have now thrown 14 complete games -- six more than any other league team.

FOR THE FOES
• Justin Weinberg drove home Andy Tepp on an RBI single in the first inning for the lone run of the first game for Saint Mary's.
• Matthew Piechowski hit two doubles in the second game, driving in a run. Dixon Irwin also had two hits in the game for the Cardinals.
