Auggies cruise past Crown 3-0 in home opener

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- The Augsburg University volleyball team claimed its first home victory of the year, dominating in a 3-0 nonconference sweep of Crown College on Wednesday night at Si Melby Hall.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Augsburg dominated all three sets against Crown, holding Crown to 20 points in the entire match. With the three-set victory, Augsburg has gone 15-2 in its 17 sets of competition so far this season.
• Offensively, Augsburg was led by a 11-kill effort from Kayla Gjerde (FY, Afton, Minn./Stillwater HS). Sydnie Zachary (JR, Apple Valley, Minn./Bloomington Jefferson HS) and Ellie Schwartz (JR, Woodbury, Minn./Hill-Murray HS) added eight kills each. 
• Morgan Malley (SR, Harmony, Minn./Fillmore Central HS) led the Auggies with 23 assists, while Izzy Barr (FY, River Falls, Wis./River Falls HS) and Lexie Lang (FY, Rochester, Minn./Mayo HS) had nine and seven assists, respectively. 
• Both Macey Terhell (SR, Osceola, Wis./Osceola HS) and Jaelin Rios (JR, Champlin, Minn./Totino-Grace HS) posted double-digit dig totals with 12 and 11, each. 
• Jade Boysen (FY, Rochester, Minn./Mayo HS) also had a standout effort for the Auggies, hitting at a team-best .778 with seven kills in nine attack attempts, while adding a team-best four block assists. 
• For the match, Augsburg hit .442, while holding Crown to a minus-.127 hitting percentage. The Auggies claimed a 47-6 advantage in kills, a 43-6 advantage in assists, and a 45-27 advantage in digs. 

FOR THE FOES
• Crown was led by Christine Anderson who had three kills, while Elizabeth Clark had five assists.
• Courtney Gunderson added seven digs for Crown.
