MINNEAPOLIS --
Nikki Nightengale (JR, Bloomington, Minn./Jefferson HS) and
Ellie Tabaka (JR, Maplewood, Minn./Tartan HS) scored goals for Augsburg University, but a big third period lifted the visiting University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire to a 7-2 nonconference women's hockey victory on Tuesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Nightengale opened the scoring with her team-leading eighth goal of the season, a power-play goal assisted by
Mackenzie Molnar (JR, Inver Grove Heights, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall HS) and
Bridget Wagner (JR, Niles, Ill./Maine South HS), at the 15:59 mark of the first period. Nightengale's eight goals are tied for second-most
among MIAC players in overall statistics, and tops among MIAC defenders.
• But UW-Eau Claire scored seven unanswered goals in the second and third periods, including four straight power-play goals in the final frame, to take command of the nonconference contest.
• Augsburg scored the final goal of the game, as Tabaka claimed her third goal of the season, assisted by Molnar, at the 19:22 mark of the third period.

Annie Juergens (JR, Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial HS) had 21 saves in goal for the Auggies before being relieved by
Abby Bollig (FY, Farmington, Minn./Farmington HS), who made her collegiate debut in goal with three saves in the final 7:17 of play.
• UW-Eau Claire outshot Augsburg by a 31-26 margin in the game, including a 23-15 margin over the final two periods.
FOR THE FOES
• Courtney Wittig scored two goals and had two assists for UW-Eau Claire, while Emma Peterson, Elizabeth Bauer and Monica Sjodin had a goal and assist each. Sami Meister and Erin Goodell also scored goals for the Blugolds.
• Erin Connolly had 24 saves in goal for the Blugolds, ranked No. 10 in the latest D3hockey.com Division III national poll.
