McLemore leads Auggies to 66-46 win over Hamline

MINNEAPOLIS -- Behind a season-high 30 points from Tamira McLemore (JR, Eagan, Minn./Eagan HS), the Augsburg University women's basketball team claimed a 66-46 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference victory over Hamline University on Wednesday night at Si Melby Hall. With the win, Coach Ted Riverso moved into a tie for the most career coaching victories in program history.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• McLemore led Augsburg from the opening tip, scoring 13 of the teams first 16 points. Augsburg closed the second quarter on a 10-2 run and went into the locker room at the half leading 39-24. Hamline cut the lead to 12 twice in the third quarter, but couldn't get any closer as Augsburg cruised onto another MIAC victory.
• McLemore scored her 30 points on a 9-of-11 shooting night, that included an 8-for-8 effort from the free throw line. She added five rebounds, four steals, two assists and a pair of blocked shots. This marks the fifth time this season McLemore has scored 20-plus.
Arianna Jones (JR, Brooklyn Park, Minn./Osseo HS) also finished in double figures for the Auggies, doing all of her damage from beyond the arc, where she finished 4-of-6 for 12 points. Jones added four steals and three assists.
• Leading Augsburg on the boards was Camille McCoy (SR, Brooklyn Park, Minn.), who finished with eight rebounds, while adding three points and a pair of assists.
• The Auggies had a great night shooting from beyond the arc, where they finished 11-of-19 (57.9 percent), their third game this season shooting 50 percent or better from distance. Augsburg leads the league in made three point baskets (128) and has connected on 10-plus three pointers on five occasions this season.
• For the game, Augsburg shot 44.9 percent (22-of-49) from the field, while Hamline connected on 34.5 percent (19-of-55) of its shot attempts and just 13.6 percent (3-of-22) from three-point range. The Auggies posted a 36-32 advantage on the boards.

 FOR THE FOES
• Hamline was led by Reilly Geistfeld, who finished with 17 points, while adding four rebounds and three blocked shots.
• Kaeli Stayer added 12 points on 5-of-9 shooting for the Pipers.

UP NEXT
• Augsburg returns to action on Saturday (1/19) as the Auggies start a three-game road trip, traveling to Northfield, Minn. to take on St. Olaf College.
• Hamline also returns to action on Saturday traveling to Arden Hills, Minn. to take on Bethel University.
