MINNEAPOLIS -- Behind a 35-save effort by goalie
Nick Schmit (SR, Fargo, N.D./Fargo North HS), the Augsburg University men's hockey team remained unbeaten in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play with a 4-2 victory over Gustavus Adolphus College on Friday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Gusties peppered Schmit with shots throughout the game, but he was able to stop 35 of 37 shots on-goal in the game -- his fourth game with 30-plus saves this season -- to improve to 9-1-2 on the season. Schmit's .929 save percentage is second-best
among MIAC goalies in overall statistics, with his 2.16 goals against-average fourth-best.
• The Auggies scored three goals on just eight shots in the first period to take a commanding lead.Â
Tommy Carey (SO, Moorhead, Minn./Moorhead HS) opened the scoring with a goal from
Lukas Gillett (SR, Rosemount, Minn./Rosemount HS) and
Luke Dietsch (SR, St. Paul, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall HS) at the 4:50 mark,Â
Chandler Madry (SR, Bakersfield, Calif./Faribanks (Alaska) BEST HS) scored from Carey and
Eric Brenk (SR, Moorhead, Minn./Moorhead HS) at the 16:35 mark, and Dietsch scored a power-play goal from
Austin Martinsen (SO, Farmington, Minn./Farmington HS) and
Jason Krych (JR, Champlin, Minn./Totino-Grace HS) at the 18:43 mark.
• After Gustavus cut the lead to two goals in the second period, Martinsen gave the Auggies a 4-1 lead iwth a goal from Gillett and Dietsch at the 11:59 mark of the third period.
• Augsburg was outshot by a 37-26 margin by Gustavus. Brenk had five shots on-goal for the Auggies in the game.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
• Dietsch and Madry both have 22 points, tied for fourth-most among MIAC players. Dietsch's 10 goals are tied for fifth-most in the MIAC, as are his 12 assists. Madry's 13 assists are fourth-most in the conference.
• Augsburg has now outscored its opponents by a 71-41 margin this season, leading the MIAC in both goals scored and fewest goals allowed.
FOR THE FOES
• Toby Sengvongxay had a goal and assist for Gustavus. Tyler Rock also scored for the Gusties.
