Balanced attack leads Auggies over Wildcats

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Behind a balanced attack that saw eight players figure in the scoring, the Augsburg University women's basketball team improved to 10-1 in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play with a 71-61 win at the College of St. Catherine on Wednesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Augsburg was paced by two players scoring in double figures -- Tamira McLemore (JR, Eagan, Minn./Eagan HS) scoring 19 points with four steals, two rebounds and two blocked shots, and Arianna Jones (JR, Brooklyn Park, Minn./Osseo HS) with 11 points, four steals, three assists and three rebounds. McLemore connected on 4-of-8 from three-point range, while Jones hit two field goals from long-range.
Kaezha Wubben (JR, Minneapolis, Minn./Hopkins HS) connected for nine points, while Camille McCoy (SR, Brooklyn Park, Minn.) scored seven points with four rebounds.
• Camryn Speese (JR, Bloomington, Minn./DeLaSalle HS) scored eight points with a team-best five rebounds, and Aiza Wilson (JR, Minneapolis, Minn./DeLaSalle HS) scored eight points, hitting two 3-pointers.
• For the game, Augsburg shot 41.0 percent (25-of-61) from the field, also connecting on eight 3-pointers. St. Catherine hit 52.0 percent (26-of-50) from the field, but went 3-of-12 from long-range. The Wildcats outrebounded the Auggies by a 35-30 margin.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
• With the victory, Augsburg has tied its single-season school record for wins with 15, a feat achieved twice before in the varsity history (since 1972-73) of the program -- in 2014-15 (15-12) and 2016-17 (15-11). Augsburg has seven games remaining in the 2018-19 regular season.
• At 10-1 in MIAC play, Augsburg is one league victory away from tying its best-ever MIAC record of 11 wins, achieved three times -- 1983-84 (11-9), 1984-85 (11-9) and 2011-12 (11-11).

• Danica Cambrice led St. Catherine with 26 points, adding six rebounds and three steals.
• Sam Orth scored 14 points with three rebounds for the Wildcats.
