Auggies rally for victory over Oles

MINNEAPOLIS -- The Augsburg University men's hockey team rallied from a 2-1 second-period deficit with three unanswered goals, claiming a 4-2 home victory over St. Olaf College in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game on Saturday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Augsburg tied the game at 2-2 at the 17:31 mark of the second period, as Luke Dietsch (SR, St. Paul, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall HS) scored his 11th goal of the season, assisted by Austin Martinsen (SO, Farmington, Minn./Farmington HS) and Lukas Gillett (SR, Rosemount, Minn./Rosemount HS).
• Alex Rodriguez (SR, Miami, Fla./Shattuck-St. Mary's (Minn.) HS) gave the Auggies the lead with his fourth goal of the weekend, scoring from Chandler Madry (SR, Bakersfield, Calif./Fairbanks (Alaska) BEST HS) and John O'Connor (JR, Moorhead, Minn./Moorhead HS). For Rodriguez, it was his 17th goal of the season, a total that leads the MIAC in overall goals and is third-most among all NCAA Division III players nationally. Madry's 15 assists are tied for second-most among MIAC players.
• The fourth forward line got into the scoring at the 12:50 mark of the final frame, as Gavin Holland (FY, Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater HS) scored his second goal of the season, assisted by Charlie Parker (SO, Verona, Wis./Verona HS) and Paul Soubry (SR, Winnipeg, Manitoba/St. Paul's HS).
• Austin Dollimer (FY, Rosemount, Minn./Rosemount HS) scored his second goal of the weekend and seventh of the year at the 7:46 mark of the second period, tying the game at 1-1 on assists from Eric Brenk (SR, Moorhead, Minn./Moorhead HS) and Jason Krych (JR, Champlin, Minn./Totino-Grace HS). Dollimer's six goals are fourth-most among MIAC rookies this season.
• Augsburg outshot St. Olaf by a 42-24 margin, completing a weekend where the Auggies outshot the Oles by a 79-39 margin. Nick Schmit (SR, Fargo, Minn./Fargo North HS) had 22 saves in goal for Augsburg to claim the win.

• Noah Parker had 38 saves in goal for St. Olaf.
