NORTHFIELD, Minn. --
Kevin McKiernan (SR, Savage, Minn./Prior Lake HS) scored his 1,000th career point as the Augsburg University men's basketball team posted a 76-69 victory over Carleton College in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action on Thursday night at West Gymnasium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• After the 14:10 mark of the first half, Augsburg led for the remainder of the game. The Auggies were able to build to their lead to double digits on multiple occasions, but Carleton kept within striking distance. The Knights cut the Augsburg led to four with just 13 seconds to play, but the Auggies were able to hit 3-of-4 from the free-throw line and defensively held Carleton from scoring on their final possession to seal the win.
• Augsburg had four players finish in double figures on the night, highlighted by McKiernan, who finished with 13 points, bringing his career total to 1,000 points on the dot. McKiernan becomes the 22nd player in Augsburg men's basketball history to reach the 1,000-point plateau. McKiernan also reached another milestone against the Knights, marking his 100th career game played.Â

Booker Coplin (JR, Shakopee, Minn./Shakopee HS). Coplin was 8-for-17 from the floor to go along with a game-high eight rebounds.

Matt Carik (SO, Rogers, Minn./Rogers HS) and
Henry Mulligan (JR, Iowa City, Iowa/Iowa City HS) finished with 14 points apiece. Carik was 3-for-4 from the field and 6-of-6 from the free-throw line, while adding six rebounds and three assists. Mulligan was 5-for-11 from the field and added a pair of rebounds.
• The Auggies shot 45.5 percent (25-of-55) from the floor, while Carleton connected on 41.4 percent (24-of-58) of its shot attempts. The Knights claimed a 38-31 advantage on the boards. Augsburg committed a season-low four turnovers and claimed a 14-6 advantage in points off turnovers.
FOR THE FOES
• Carleton was led offensively by Matthew Stritzel, who finished with 17 points and a game-high seven assists.
• Quinn Johnson pulled down a team-best seven boards for the Knights and added seven points, six assists and a pair of steals.
