Volleyball scores sweep of UW-River Falls

RIVER FALLS, Wis. -- A balanced team effort from the No. 16-ranked Augsburg University volleyball team spurred a sweep over the University of Wisconsin-River Falls in nonconference action on Friday night. 

THE BASICS 
FINAL SCORE: Augsburg def. UW-River Falls 3-0 (26-24, 25-20, 25-13)
LOCATION: Don Page Arena, River Falls, Wis.
RECORDS: Augsburg 15-4 overall, UW-River Falls 14-11 overall 

HOW IT HAPPENED 
• The Auggie offense had a well-balanced attack effort, with three players hitting at or above .500 -- Jade Boysen (SO, Rochester, Minn./Mayo HS) with nine kills at .750, Megan Quam (SR, Kenyon, Minn./Kenyon-Wanamingo HS) with six kills at .500 and Lexie Lang (SO, Rochester, Minn./Mayo HS) with six kills at .857 -- no errors on seven swings. As a team, Augsburg hit .292, with 39 kills and just 11 errors in 96 attack attempts. 
• Izzy Barr (SO, River Falls, Wis./River Falls HS) collected 13 assists, three digs and three service aces. Lang added 11 assists for the Auggies, along with four digs.
• Kayla Gjerde (SO, Afton, Minn./Stillwater HS) had team-best 13 digs, while adding four kills. 
• Augsburg earned eight team blocks -- Quam with four (one solo), Corrina Evans (JR, Blaine, Minn./Blaine HS) with four assists, and Maddie Nierengarten (JR, Foley, Minn./Princeton HS) and Fullerton with three assists each. 
• Adding to the Auggie offense, Quam finished with six kills, while Evans had five and Nierengarten with four. 

FOR THE FOES
• Mallory Griffin, Dakotah Poltra and Katie Koerper collected eight kills each for the Falcons. 
• Hailey Huseth had a match-best 27 assists.

• Augsburg returns to action Saturday (10/12) when they host Stevens Institute of Technology (N.J.) at 5:30 p.m. at Si Melby Hall.
