Augsburg sweeps St. Scholastica

DULUTH, Minn. -- The No. 16-ranked Augsburg University volleyball team claimed a three-set nonconference sweep at the College of St. Scholastica on Friday night. 

THE BASICS 
FINAL SCORE: Augsburg def. St. Scholastica 3-0 (25-23, 25-22, 25-18)
LOCATION: Reif Gym, Duluth, Minn.
RECORDS: Augsburg 17-4 overall, St. Scholastica 14-5 overall 

HOW IT HAPPENED 
• Augsburg posted a solid two-way effort against St. Scholastica, handing the Saints their first loss since Sept. 28 and extending the Auggies' win streak to four matches. The Auggie offense hit at a .254 clip, while the defense amassed 10 team blocks.
Kayla Gjerde (SO, Afton, Minn./Stillwater HS) led Augsburg offensively, finishing with 13 kills, eight digs and four blocks (one solo). 
• Finishing with eight kills each were Megan Quam (SR, Kenyon, Minn./Kenyon-Wanamingo HS) and Corrina Evans (JR, Blaine, Minn./Blaine HS). Quam added four block assists and three digs, while Evans collected six digs, five assists and four block assists. Jade Boysen (SO, Rochester, Minn./Mayo HS) earned six kills on only seven attempts, hitting .857.
• Tying her career-high dig effort set in a five-set match this year against UW-Eau Claire, Maddie Nierengarten (JR, Foley, Minn./Princeton HS) had 19 digs, while adding seven kills. 
• Middle blocker Jade Fullerton (SO, Arden Hills, Minn./Mounds View HS) netted five block assists, four kills and three digs. 
Izzy Barr (SO, River Falls, Wis./River Falls HS) earned her eighth assist-dig double-double with 25 assists and 13 digs. Fellow setter Lexie Lang (SO, Rochester, Minn./Mayo HS) finished with 14 assists, three digs and two kills. 
Jaelin Rios (SR, Champlin, Minn./Totino Grace HS) had 14 digs for the Auggies. 

FOR THE FOES
• Jessica Remer led the Saints' offense with nine kills, adding 12 digs. 
• Katie Brostrom had 18 assists and 12 digs, while Alcia Draper had a team-best 22 digs.

• Augsburg returns to Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play on Saturday (10/19), traveling to Concordia-Moorhead for a 3 p.m. matchup.
