Gjerde, Quam pace Augsburg past Cobbers

MOORHEAD, Minn. -- The No. 16-ranked Augsburg University volleyball team earned its fifth Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference victory of the year, a 3-1 set win at Concordia College-Moorhead on Saturday afternoon. Kayla Gjerde (SO, Afton, Minn./Stillwater HS) and Megan Quam (SR, Kenyon, Minn./Kenyon-Wanamingo HS) led the Auggie offense with 13 and 11 kills respectively.

HOW IT HAPPENED 
• The Auggie offense had a strong offensive showing, hitting at a .308 clip -- the fourth time this year hitting better than .300. Augsburg held the Cobbers to only a .062 hitting percentage. 
• Quam's 11 kills came from 18 attempts, hitting .500. Quam has hit at a .500 clip or higher in six matches this year. Both Quam and Gjerde had three block assists, while Gjerde added five digs. 
• Corrina Evans (JR, Blaine, Minn./Blaine HS) finished with nine kills, two digs and two block assists. Maddie Nierengarten (JR, Foley, Minn./Princeton HS) earned seven kills, seven digs and four block assists. Adding three block assists was Jade Fullerton (SO, Arden Hills, Minn./Mounds View HS). Fullerton also had five assists and four kills. 
• Setters Izzy Barr (SO, River Falls, Wis./River Falls HS) and Lexie Lang (SO, Rochester, Minn./Mayo HS) finished with 23 and 15 assists, respectively. Barr added nine digs, two block assists and an impressive four service aces. 
• Libero Jaelin Rios (SR, Champlin, Minn./Totino Grace HS) had 12 digs and four assists in the match. 

FOR THE FOES
• Brook Carney had a team-best 10 kills, while Casey Coste claimed 12 digs.  
• Lexi Turn and Jill Klaphake finished with 17 and 13 assists respectively.
