MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- The No. 13-ranked Augsburg University volleyball team earned a crucial Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference victory with a 3-1 set win over Saint Mary's University on Wednesday night at Si Melby Hall.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Augsburg ended Saint Mary's three-match win streak, while extending its own winning streak to six matches, with a dramatic fourth-set victory to earn the match win. The Cardinals won the first set 25-21, but the Auggies fought their way back, winning the next two sets convincingly and then overcame a 24-17 set-point deficit in the fourth set, winning the final set 27-25. Augsburg out-hit the Cardinals by a .208 to .105 margin, and had 11 team blocks to the Cardinals' two.

Kayla Gjerde (SO, Afton, Minn./Stillwater HS) and
Corrina Evans (JR, Blaine, Minn./Blaine HS) finished with 12 kills. Gjerde added 14 digs, for her 11th kill-dig double-double of the season, to go along with five block assists. Evans set her career-best block effort with 10 blocks (one solo), while also adding five digs.

Izzy Barr (SO, River Falls, Wis./River Falls HS) collected 25 assists, 10 digs and four service aces for the Auggies.
Lexie Lang (SO, Rochester, Minn./Mayo HS) finished with 11 assists, seven digs and three kills.
Maddie Nierengarten (JR, Foley, Minn./Princeton HS) earned a team-best 18 digs, adding three kills and two aces.

Jade Boysen (SO, Rochester, Minn./Mayo HS) had six kills and three block assists, and
Megan Quam (SR, Kenyon, Minn./Kenyon-Wanamingo HS) collected seven kills.
• First-year
Katie O'Rourke (FY, New Brighton, Minn./Irondale HS) set career-best numbers with five kills -- hitting at .625 -- and four digs.
FOR THE FOES
• Rachel Kedl and Linnaea Wallis finished with 10 kills each for the Cardinals, while Lillian Braun had match-best 42 assists.
• Braun added 12 digs, and DeJaye Baab had 14 digs.
