Augsburg reaches 20-victory plateau

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- The No. 13-ranked Augsburg University volleyball team collected a three-set nonconference sweep of Bethany Lutheran College on Friday night at Si Melby Hall. With the victory, Augsburg has reached the 20-win mark for the second year in a row and the 14th time in the 47-season history of the program.

HOW IT HAPPENED 
• Thirteen different Auggies saw action in Friday's match. Augsburg out-hit the Vikings by a .304 to .102 margin, marking the fourth time this season that the Auggies have hit better than .300. Corrina Evans (JR, Blaine, Minn./Blaine HS) led the Auggie offense with a match-best 12 kills, hitting at a .423 clip. Evans also had three block assists, two assists and two digs. 
Kayla Gjerde (SO, Afton, Minn./Stillwater HS) finished with eight kills, nine digs, three blocks (one solo) and a service ace. Megan Quam (SR, Kenyon, Minn./Kenyon-Wanamingo HS) had seven kills and a block assist. 
Jaelin Rios (SR, Champlin, Minn./Totino-Grace HS) earned match-best 16 digs, while also adding five assists. 
Izzy Barr (SO, River Falls, Wis./River Falls HS) had 18 assists, four digs, a kill and an ace, while Lexie Lang (SO, Rochester, Minn./Mayo HS) collected 12 assists, four kills, three digs and a service ace. 
Maddie Nierengarten (JR, Foley, Minn./Princeton HS) finished with six digs, three kills and three aces. 

FOR THE FOES
• Megan Rutt earned 11 kills, eight digs and three service aces for the Vikings.
• Brittany Sanders also had three aces, to go along with match-best 22 assists.

• Augsburg travels to Bethel on Saturday (10/26) at 3 p.m., for an important Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match.
