Augsburg falls to No. 7-ranked CSB

ST. JOSEPH, Minn. -- The No. 11-ranked Augsburg University volleyball team dropped a three-set match to the No. 7-ranked College of Saint Benedict in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference showdown on Saturday afternoon in Claire Lynch Hall.

RECORDS: Augsburg 13-4 overall (3-2 MIAC), St. Benedict 16-1 overall (4-0 MIAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED 
• In a matchup of two nationally ranked teams, Augsburg wasn't able to come up with the big victory as the Auggies fell to the No. 7-ranked Bennies. The Auggies hit .200 for the match, while the Bennies hit at a .300 clip. Augsburg posted a 10-to-6 advantage in blocks and a 5-to-4 advantage in service aces.
• The Auggies were led at the net by Corrina Evans (JR, Blaine, Minn./Blaine HS), who finished with 10 kills and five blocks, to go along with three digs and an assist. 
• Kayla Gjerde (SO, Afton, Minn./Stillwater HS) and Maddie Nierengarten (JR, Foley, Minn./Princeton HS) added eight and seven kills respectively. Gjerde added six digs and a service ace, while Nierengarten added three digs and a pair of aces.
• Setters Lexie Lang (SO, Rochester, Minn./Mayo HS) and Izzy Barr (SO, River Falls, Wis./River Falls HS) finished with 16 and 11 assists each.
• Jaelin Rios (SR, Champlin, Minn./Totino-Grace HS) led the Auggies with 11 digs, while Megan Quam (SR, Kenyon, Minn./Kenyon-Wanamingo HS) and Jade Fullerton (SO, Arden Hills, Minn./Mounds View HS) added four blocks apiece.

FOR THE FOES
• Gabby Heying and Hunter Weiss led the Bennies with 16 and 13 kills respectively. 
• Katie Koch posted a 39 assist, 12 dig double-double for Saint Benedict.
