SUPERIOR, Wis. -- The No. 23-ranked Augsburg University women's basketball team showed its depth in an 81-55 season-opening road victory over the University of Wisconsin-Superior on Monday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Auggies led for 37:24 of the game, with 15 different Auggies seeing action in the contest.
• Augsburg continued to show why it is one of the top outside shooting teams in the region. The Auggies connected on 11-of-26 from three-point range, and were also able to generate points from the free-throw line, where the they finished 16-of-21. Last season, the Auggies finished with double-digit three-pointers on six occasions and were 6-0 in those contests.Â
• The Augsburg offense was led by a career-high 21 points from
Camryn Speese (SR, Bloomington, Minn./DeLaSalle HS), who finished 6-of-10 from the field and 9-of-12 from the free-throw line. In a new statistical category tracked this season, Speese drew a game-high nine fouls and added six rebounds.

Tamira McLemore (SR, Eagan, Minn./Eagan HS) finished with 17 points on the night, shooting 7-for-15 from the floor and 3-of-6 from three-point range. The scoring effort brings McLemore up to a career point total of 1,146 and moves her into third all-time on the school's career scoring list.
• Also finishing in double figures for the Auggies was
Selena Lor (SO, Winona, Minn./Winona HS) and
Nicole Zielsdorf (JR, Arden Hills, Minn./St. Anthony Village HS), who finished with 12 and 11 points respectively.

Aiza Wilson (JR, Minneapolis, Minn./DeLaSalle HS) chipped in a 3-of-6 effort from beyond the arc and added four rebounds, four assists and a pair of steals.
• As a team, Augsburg hit 27-of-67 (40.3 percent) from the field. UW-Superior connected on 21-of-55 of their shot attempts (38.2 percent), but was only 3-of-11 (27.3 percent) from outside the arc. Augsburg claimed a 46-36 advantage on the boards.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
• Monday's game marked the fourth straight season that the Auggies have met up with UW-Superior in nonconference action. The Auggies are 3-1 against the Yellowjackets over that time frame.Â
• UW-Superior is the defending Upper Midwest Athletic Conference regular-season champions and were picked to finish second in the league this season.
• Augsburg, 2018-19 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference regular-season and postseason runners-up, were picked to finish second in the MIAC this season, the Auggies' highest-ever preseason MIAC ranking. Augsburg entered the season ranked No. 23 in the D3hoops.com preseason national poll.

• UW-Superior was led by Eva Reinertsen, who finished with team-highs in both points (17) and rebounds (8).
• Emily Carpenter added nine points and seven assists for the Yellowjackets.
