MINNEAPOLIS -- The Augsburg University men's basketball team claimed a 102-54 nonconference victory over Northland College in the team's season-opener on Wednesday night at Si Melby Hall. With the win, the Auggies have now won four straight games over the Lumberjacks.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Northland grabbed its only lead of the game, a 10-8 advantage at the 16:41 mark, before Augsburg went on a 22-3 run and never looked back. The Auggies extended their lead to as many as 26 in the first half and cruised on the the season-opening victory. Augsburg was able to showcase its depth in the win, with 18 different Auggies seeing action and 14 factoring into the scoring.

Booker Coplin (SR, Shakopee, Minn./Shakopee HS), who finished with a game-high 18 points. He was 7-for-10 from the field, while adding seven assists and five rebounds in just 18 minutes of action.

Matt Carik (JR, Rogers, Minn./Rogers HS) also had an efficient night for the Auggies, finishing with 11 points on 4-of-6 from the field and 3-of-5 from three-point range. Also finishing in double figures for the Auggies were
Will Schmidt (SO, Maple Grove, Minn./Totino-Grace HS) and
Carter Duncan (SR, Chisago City, Minn./Chisago Lakes HS), who finished with 10 points each.
• Leading Augsburg on the boards was
Isaiah Robinson (SR, Apple Valley, Minn./Henry Sibley HS), who finished with a career-best six rebounds.
Henry Mulligan (SR, Iowa City, Iowa/Iowa City HS) dished out six assists and added six points.
• Augsburg shot an impressive 60.6 percent from the field (22-of-34), which included a 7-of-12 effort (58.3 percent) from beyond the arc in the second half. The Auggies held Northland to just 23-of-66 (34.8 percent) shooting from the floor and just 5-of-29 (17.2 percent) from beyond the arc.
• The Auggies posted a 50-26 advantage in points in the paint, a 20-2 advantage in fast-break points and a 48-26 advantage on the boards.

• Northland was led offensively by Jordan Brennan, who finished with 13 points, shooting 6-for-10 from the field.
