MINNEAPOLIS -- With all the scoring coming in the final 8:24 of play, the No. 8-ranked University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire handed No. 4-ranked Augsburg University its first loss of the season, a 3-1 nonconference men's hockey decision on Saturday evening at Ed Saugestad Rink.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Blugolds broke a scoreless tie with 8:24 left in the game, but Augsburg tied the game at the 14:48 mark, when
Patrick O'Connor (SO, Moorhead, Minn./Moorhead HS) scored his first goal of the season on a rising shot from the right point, assisted by
Gavin Holland (SO, Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater HS) and
Austin Martinsen (JR, Farmington, Minn./Farmington HS). Martinsen, who has recorded a point in each of Augsburg's six games,Â
leads the MIAC in points with nine and goals scored with five.
• UW-Eau Claire took the lead on a goal just 18 seconds after O'Connor's score, then added an empty-net goal in the final minute to seal the victory between the teams, both ranked in the top 10 in the latest USCHO.com Division III national poll.
• UW-Eau Claire held a 35-22 advantage in shots in the game.
Daniil Gerasimov (JR, Moscow, Russia/State School 1944) had 32 saves in goal for the Auggies.

• Jon Richards scored at the 11:36 mark of the third period, Nathan Dingmann scored at the 15:06 mark and Steen Cooper scored at the 19:38 mark for the Blugolds.
