Auggies fall to UWL 79-71

LACROSSE, Wis. -- The Augsburg University men's basketball team suffered its first loss of the season, dropping a 79-71 nonconference contest at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse on Tuesday evening at Mitchell Hall.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• After trailing 38-32 at the intermission, Augsburg started the second half on a 13-2 run, taking its first lead of the game at the 16:02 mark. UW-La Crosse regained the advantage at the 11:17 mark and wouldn't give up the lead again, as the Eagles hung on for the win.
• Augsburg was led by a 21-point, 11-rebound effort from Booker Coplin (SR, Shakopee, Minn./Shakopee HS). This was his second double-double of the year and 19th of his Auggie career.
• Henry Mulligan (SR, Iowa City, Iowa/Iowa City HS) recorded a season-best 19 points, going 7-for-13 from the field and 5-of-10 from three-point range.
• Posting a season-best rebound effort, Carter Duncan (SR, Chisago City, Minn./Chisago Lakes HS), pulled down 10 rebounds, to go along with four points and a blocked shot.
• Also finishing in double figures for the Auggies was Martin Mitchell (SR, Apple Valley, Minn./Eastview HS), who finished with a season-best 11 points, while adding three rebounds and an assist.
• Matt Carik (JR, Rogers, Minn./Rogers HS) dished out four assists, to go along with seven points and four rebounds.
• For the game, Augsburg connected on 39.3 percent (22-of-56) of its shot attempts, while the Eagles shot 46.6 percent (27-of-58) from the floor. The teams pulled down 37 rebounds apiece.

FOR THE FOES
• UWL had four players finish in double figures, led by 22 points from Ethan Anderson.
• The Eagles were led on the boards by Sean Suchomel, who pulled down nine rebounds, while adding seven points and five assists.
