ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The Augsburg University women's basketball team used a 27-point first quarter to spur the team to its fifth straight win to start the season, posting a 62-57 victory over St. Catherine University in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action on Tuesday night at the Butler Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• After jumping out to a 27-12 first-quarter lead, where the Auggies shot 71.4 percent (10-of-14) from the field, the Auggies had to hold off a fourth-quarter rally by the Wildcats to pick up another big MIAC victory.
• Augsburg was led offensively by
Tamira McLemore (SR, Eagan, Minn./Eagan HS), who scored 21 points, while pulling down seven rebounds. The effort is her first 20-plus-point scoring effort of the season and 18th time in her Auggie career.
• Also having a strong performance for the Auggies wasÂ
Camryn Speese (SR, Bloomington, Minn./DeLaSalle HS), who finished with 16 points and eight rebounds. Speese was 8-for-11 from the field, added a game-high four steals and two blocked shots.

Jazmyn Solseth (JR, Inver Grove Heights, Minn./St. Croix Lutheran HS) also pulled down eight rebounds for the Auggies, while adding nine points and three steals.
• For the game, Augsburg shot 42.1 percent (24-of-57) from the field and 27.3 percent (6-of-22) from three-point range. The Wildcats connected on 37.5 percent (21-of-57) from the floor and 30.8 percent (4-of-13) from beyond the arc.Â
• St. Catherine posted a 39-27 advantage on the boards.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
• With the win over St. Catherine, the Auggies remain unbeaten and move to 5-0 to start the year, just the second time in the post-Title IX era that the Auggies have started a season with five straight wins, the other time being the 2016-17 season.
• The win marks the third straight victory for the Auggies over the Wildcats.
 FOR THE FOES
• The Wildcats were led by Katie Benjamin, who finished with 20 points on 8-of-11 shooting from the floor.
• Danica Cambrice posted a 15-point, 11-rebound double-double for St. Kate's.
