Auggies return to win column with victory in Oregon

PORTLAND, Ore. -- The No. 14-ranked Augsburg University women's basketball team was led to victory by Tamira McLemore (SR, Eagan, Minn./Eagan HS), who scored 26 points in a 78-50 nonconference victory over Lewis & Clark College on Sunday afternoon at the Pamplin Sports Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Augsburg jumped out to an impressive 22-3 first quarter lead and was able to stretch its advantage to 39-14 at the intermission. The Auggies built on their early lead with a 31-point third quarter and coasted on to their sixth victory of the season.
• McLemore was incredibly efficient, scoring her 26 points on 9-of-13 shooting from the floor, while tying a season-best with six steals in just 21 minutes of action. The game marked her second 20-plus-point scoring effort of the season and 19th time in her Auggie career scoring more than 20 points in a game.
• The Augsburg career leader in three-point field goals, Aiza Wilson (SR, Minneapolis, Minn./DeLaSalle HS) continued to demonstrate her shooting skills, scoring all of her points from beyond the arc, finishing 4-of-7 for 12 points. Wilson has connected on at least one three pointer in every game this season.
• Camryn Speese (SR, Bloomington, Minn./DeLaSalle HS) and Kaezha Wubben (SR, Minneapolis, Minn./Hopkins HS) scored 10 points apiece for the Auggies, combining for six rebounds and three steals.
• Recording a season-best three blocked shots, Jazmyn Solseth (JR, Inver Grove Heights, Minn./St. Croix Lutheran HS) added eight points on a 4-of-6 shooting afternoon.
• For the game, Augsburg shot 43.1 percent (28-of-65) from the field and 46.2 percent from three-point range (12-of-26). Lewis & Clark was held to shooting at a 32.1 percent (17-of-53) clip and connected on just 21.4 percent (3-of-14) from beyond the arc.
• Lewis & Clark posted a 41-26 advantage on the boards, but Augsburg was able to win the turnover battle forcing 26, while only committing 12 and converted that into a 34-6 advantage in points off-turnovers. The Auggies also posted a 16-2 advantage in fast-break points. 
 
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
• This marks just the second time in school history that these two teams have met, with the Auggies emerging victorious on both occasions. The other victory occurred on Nov. 28, 2015.

 FOR THE FOES
• Lewis & Clark was led by a 20-point, 15-rebound effort from Delsie Johnson, her third consecutive double-double.
• Jessica Cerne added nine points for the Pioneers.

• Augsburg returns to action on Wednesday (12/4) at 5:45 p.m. hosting St. Olaf College in an MIAC doubleheader at Si Melby Hall.
