Auggies extend unbeaten streak to 5 straight with win

ST. CLOUD, Minn. -- Scoring three goals in a 6:29 span in the second period, the Augsburg University women's hockey team extended its unbeaten streak to five straight games (4-0-1) with its third straight win, a 3-1 road triumph over the College of Saint Benedict in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action on Friday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Augsburg outshot Saint Benedict by a 41-16 margin in the game, including a 20-5 advantage in the second period, where its scored its three goals after the Bennies had taken a 1-0 lead.
Valerie Whichello (SR, Woodbury, Minn/East Ridge HS) tied the game at 1-1 for the Auggies with her fourth goal of the season, scoring from Megan Johnson (SR, Madison, Wis./Memorial HS).
Kendra Robinson (FY, Stevens Point, Wis./Pacelli HS) scored her first collegiate goal at the 16:39 mark, assisted by Bridget Wagner (JR, Niles, Ill./Maine South HS) and Nikki Nightengale (JR, Bloomington, Minn./Jefferson HS). Wagner now as a team-best 20 points (nine goals, 11 assists) on the season, with her 20 points and nine goals both fifth-most among MIAC players in overall statistics, and her 11 assists ninth-most.
Jacie Hoehn (SR, Waseca, Minn./Kasson-Mantorville HS) capped the Auggie scoring with her second goal of the campaign, assisted by Ellie Tabaka (JR, Maplewood, Minn./Tartan HS) at the 18:10 mark.
•  Annie Juergens (JR, Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial HS) stopped 15 of the 16 shots she faced to pick up the win in goal, improving to 6-4-2 on the season.

• Seventeen of Augsburg's 22 skaters who have seen game action this season have scored goals, with 18 different Auggies recording either a goal or an assist.
