ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Booker Coplin (JR, Shakopee, Minn./Shakopee HS) officially joined the Augsburg career 1,000 point club, but it wasn't enough as the Augsburg University men's basketball team dropped a hard-fought 83-77 contest to Macalester College in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action on Wednesday evening at the Leonard Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Macalester led for a majority of the game, but Augsburg fought back and was able to cut the Scot lead to three twice in the final minute. Macalester converted 6-of-8 from the free throw line in the final 49 seconds to put a stop to the Augsburg comeback and claim the win.
• Coplin led Augsburg with a 26-point, 14-rebound effort. He was 8-of-19 from the field and 8-of-8 from the free throw line, playing all 40 minutes of action. This marked the 10th double-double of the season for Coplin and 15th of his Auggie career. With his performance, Coplin becomes the 23rd player in Augsburg men's basketball history to reach the 1,000 point plateau. He now has 1,013 points in his Augsburg career and 1,097 including his first year at UW-River Falls. Coplin's 19.1 Augsburg points per-game average ranks fifth all-time on the school history list.
Matt Carik (SO, Rogers, Minn./Rogers HS) also played the entire 40 minutes for the Auggies, finishing with 20 points -- his fourth 20+ point performance of the season -- shooting 7-of-14 from the field and 4-of-9 from three point range.
• Rounding out the 40-minute contingent was Kevin McKiernan (SR, Savage, Minn./Prior Lake HS), who was 6-of-12 from the field, finishing with 16 points, four rebounds and four assists.
