MINNEAPOLIS -- Having to rally twice from deficits in the final 20 minutes of play, the Augsburg University women's lacrosse team evened its record at 2-2 overall with a 12-9 Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference victory over the University of Northwestern-St. Paul on Friday evening at Edor Nelson Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Neither team led by more than a goal for most of the game, and Augsburg had to rally twice in the second half from deficits to score the win. Trailing 6-5 eight minutes into the second half, the Auggies scored three free-position goals in a 2:39 span to take an 8-6 lead, with
Mikayla Knudson (JR, Zimmerman, Minn./Elk River HS) scoring twice to bracket a goal by
Christina Nelson (SR, Bloomington, Minn./Jefferson HS).
• Northwestern scored three unanswered goals to take a 9-8 lead with 11:50 left, but Augsburg scored the final four goals of the game in the last 10:46, with
Mikayla Jones (JR, Oak Park Heights, Minn./B.E. Emerson Prep HS) scoring twice, including the goal that put the Auggies ahead 10-9 with 6:04 remaining.

Maddie Seykora (SO, Owatonna, Minn./Owatonna HS) tied her career high with 17 saves -- tied for the fifth-most saves in a single game in school history. She stopped 12 of Northwestern's 17 shots on-goal in the second half, and added three ground balls and a caused turnover in the game. Sykora's 51 saves this season are the most
among MWLC goalies in overall statistics, with her .548 save percentage fourth-best.
• Defender/midfielder Nelson had another complete all-around game for the Auggies, with a goal and two assists on offense, while contributing nine draw controls, three caused turnovers and three ground balls on defense. Her 24 draw controls this season are tops
among MWLC players in overall statistics.

McKenna Ellena (SO, Wales, Wis./Kettle Moraine HS) scored two first-half goals with an assist, while adding two caused turnovers and a ground ball. Knudson scored two goals with three draw controls, two caused turnovers and two ground balls, and
Allie Tuccitto (SO, Rosemount, Minn./Eastview HS) scored twice as well. Jones added a caused turnover to her two-goal night.

Megan Furlong (SO, Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake HS) scored a goal with two caused turnovers and two ground balls, and Teyha Reinbold (SO, St. Michael, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville HS) scored a goal with a caused turnover and a ground ball.
Hannah Mincy (FY, Des Moines, Iowa/Urbandale HS) scored a goal.

Annika Hegrenes (JR, Maplewood, Minn./Concordia Academy HS) had two assists with three caused turnovers, four ground balls and two draw controls, and
Kassie Diaz (SR, Bloomington, Minn./Kennedy HS) had two caused turnovers and a ground ball.
• The game was evenly matched throughout, with Augsburg holding a 35-34 advantage in shots. Augsburg recorded 14 clears in 26 attempts, compared to Northwestern's 16-of-28. Augsburg had 14 draw controls to Northwestern's nine, and Northwestern had 20 ground balls to Augsburg's 17. Both teams scored four goals on free-position attempts.
FOR THE FOES
• Northwestern was paced by Hannah Shands, who scored four goals, including two free-position goals, while adding five ground balls, three draw controls and two caused turnovers. Talia Sherry scored three goals with two assists, three ground balls, three draw controls and three caused turnovers. Megan Roberts had two ground balls and four caused turnovers.
• Sydney Werlein had 12 saves in goal for the Eagles, adding two ground balls and a caused turnover.
