Hegrenes' 4 goals lead Auggies to 3rd straight win

MOUNT VERNON, Iowa -- Behind a career-high four-goal effort from Annika Hegrenes (JR, Maplewood, Minn./Concordia Academy HS), the Augsburg University women's lacrosse team claimed its third straight win in Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference play, a 15-6 triumph at Cornell College on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Hegrenes scored three of her four goals in the first half, as Augsburg built a 10-1 halftime advantage. She scored four of Augsburg's first 10 goals in the game, while adding a ground ball, draw control and caused turnover. Hegrenes is now tied for second on the team in scoring with eight goals.
• The Auggies stretched the lead to as many as nine goals in the second half, outshooting the Rams by a 33-24 margin in the game.
Mikayla Knudson (JR, Zimmerman, Minn./Elk River HS) scored three goals with an assist for her third straight multi-goal game of the season, adding four ground balls and a draw control.
Christina Nelson (SR, Bloomington, Minn./Kennedy HS) was impressive again in all facets of the game, scoring two goals with six ground balls and two caused turnovers, while tying her career-high for the fourth time with 11 draw controls. Her 35 draw controls this season are now fourth-best among MWLC players in overall statistics.
• Claiming her third straight two-goal game was Mikayla Jones (JR, Oak Park Heights, Minn./B.E. Emerson Prep HS), adding an assist for a three-point performance. She also had two draw controls.
• Goalie Maddie Seykora (SO, Owatonna, Minn./Owatonna HS) recorded 10 saves for the Auggies, while adding two ground balls. Her .560 save percentage is second-best among MWLC goalies in overall statistics, with her 61 saves tied for third-most.
Allie Tuccitto (SO, Rosemount, Minn./Eastview HS) scored a goal with an assist, and Teyha Reinbold (SO, St. Michael, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville HS), Megan Furlong (SO, Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake HS) and McKenna Ellena (SO, Wales, Wis./Kettle Moraine HS) also scored goals. Demey Everett (JR, Brooklyn Center, Minn./Champlin Park HS) contributed four ground balls and two caused turnovers.
• Augsburg recorded 16 draw controls to Cornell's seven in the game, while scoring six free-position goals to Cornell's one. Both teams had 14 successful clearing attempts, Augsburg in 20 opportunities and Cornell in 22.

FOR THE FOES
• Barbie Becker scored three goals to lead Cornell, while Sydney Swift scored two goals and Cassidy Greer scored one goal. 
• Maddie Althoff had nine saves and a ground ball in goal for the Rams.
