Auggies open Tucson trip with 1-3 weekend

TUCSON, Ariz. -- The Augsburg University softball team opened its week of action at the Tucson Invitational Games with a 1-3 start in its set of games on Saturday and Sunday at Lincoln Park.

WEEKEND HIGHLIGHTS
• In their opening four games in Arizona, the Auggies were paced at the plate by Sam Anderson (SR, Coon Rapids, Minn./Coon Rapids HS), who hit .643 (9-of-14) with a double, two RBI and two runs scored. She also pitched in three games on the weekend, striking out 10 while walking eight.
• Anesia King (JR, Cambridge, Minn./Cambridge-Isanti HS) had five hits, including a double and triple, scoring four runs and driving in a run.
• Carly Dropik (SR, Alexandria, Minn./Alexandria HS) went 5-for-5 in Saturday's play, including a 4-for-4, three-RBI effort against Skidmore, with a triple and home run, scoring twice.
• Augsburg pitcher Elly Strunk (SO, Blooming Prairie, Minn./Blooming Prairie HS) went 1-1 in two games, striking out two while walking two.
• Hollywood Hermanson (JR, Dover, Minn./Dover-Eyota HS) had three hits, including a double, and drove in three runs on the weekend.
