TUCSON, Ariz. -- The Augsburg University baseball team opened its week of action at the Tucson Invitational Games with three close losses in its games on Saturday and Sunday at the Kino Sports Complex.

HIGHLIGHTS VS. NEBRASKA WESLEYAN
• Augsburg pounded out 18 hits and scored nine runs, but committed seven errors, which led to nine unearned runs charged to three Augsburg pitchers.
• Clayton Bodine (SR, Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata HS) went 3-for-6 with a double and two runs scored for the Auggies, while Mike Brookshaw (SR, Prescott, Wis./Prescott HS) went 3-for-5 with a run scored and two RBI. 
• Dan Phyle (SO, Lakeville, Minn./Rosemount HS) and Chris Steinhoff (JR, St. Paul, Minn./Como Park HS) had three hits each, and Joe Rydel (SR, Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake HS) had a double among his two hits, driving in two runs.
• Jamie Kaye (SR, Bloomington, Minn./Jefferson HS) started and struck out two while walking two in 4.2 innings of work, with Kendal Hanson (SO, Becker, Minn./Becker HS) and Joey Tschida (JR, Lakeville, Minn./St. Thomas Academy HS) pitching in relief.

HIGHLIGHTS VS. UW-SUPERIOR
• Mathew Nicklay (SO, Hastings, Minn./Hastings HS) struck out two while walking three in four innings of work in the first game, with Paul Girard (FY, Maple Grove, Minn./Wayzata HS) pitching three innings of scoreless relief.
• Bodine hit a double and scored a run for the Auggies in the first game, and Phyle scored two runs.
• The second game was a back-and-forth struggle. Augsburg rallied from a 5-4 deficit with six runs in the top of the seventh inning, but UW-Superior scored eight in the bottom of the seventh to claim the win.
• Bodine hit a two-run double for the Auggies and scored three runs, while Walker Rogers (JR, Inver Grove Heights, Minn./Simley HS) scored two runs, as did Dylan Foote (JR, Oakdale, Minn./North St. Paul HS) and Brookshaw.
• Jacob Kraft (SR, Hutchinson, Minn./Hutchinson HS) started on the mound for the Auggies in the second game, striking out two while walking three in five innings.
