TUCSON, Ariz. -- The Augsburg University softball team closed its 10-game trip to Arizona for the Tucson Invitational Games on Thursday with a pair of losses, returning to Minnesota with a 7-7 overall record.

UW-PLATTEVILLE HIGHLIGHTS
• Augsburg managed just two hits against UW-Platteville pitcher Ashton Hoeppner -- singles byÂ
Nell Gehrke (JR, Northfield, Minn./Northfield HS) in the first inning and by
Elly Strunk (SO, Blooming Prairie, Minn./Blooming Prairie HS) in the third. Augsburg also reached base three times on walks against Hoeppner, who had six strikeouts in the game.
• Making her sixth start of the season in the pitching circle, Strunk had two strikeouts against four walks in a complete-game effort, allowing nine hits. Just four of the 10 runs charged to her were earned, as Augsburg committed six errors in the game that led to six unearned runs.
• Haili Cota and Riley Kelsch had two hits each for UW-Platteville. Kelsch and Rachel Martin both had doubles, and both also scored two runs each.
HUNTINGTON HIGHLIGHTS
• Augsburg jumped out to a 4-1 lead after four-and-a-half innings, but Huntington, a NAIA program, took the lead with four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning and held on for the win.
• The Auggies scored three runs in the third inning.
Kate Stehr (JR, Goodhue, Minn./Goodhue HS) walked and scored on a single by
Sam Anderson (SR, Coon Rapids, Minn./Coon Rapids HS), with Gehrke scoring following a throwing error. A RBI single by
Shannon Dale (JR, Watertown, Minn./Watertown-Mayer HS) plated Anderson.
• Augsburg gained another run in the fifth. Gehrke singled, moved to second on a groundout and scored on a single by
Hollywood Hermanson (JR, Dover, Minn./Dover-Eyota HS).
• Huntington scored a run in the third on an RBI double by Denaia Rice. In the fourth, RBI singles by Karley Blankenship and Joelle Beals plated runs, and Blankenship scored on a passed ball and Beals scored on a wild pitch.
• Anderson pitched a complete game for Augsburg, striking out nine while walking three and allowing six hits. In her seven pitching appearances during the Arizona trip, she had 43 strikeouts against 13 walks in 38.1 innings of work.
• Gehrke and Dale had two hits each for the Auggies against Huntington.
