MINNEAPOLIS -- The Augsburg University baseball team traveled across the Mississippi River to play the Division I University of Minnesota Golden Gophers on Wednesday evening, falling 9-3 at Siebert Field.

• Augsburg was limited to three hits in the game, while 16 players cracked the lineup for the Auggies.Â
• Augsburg scored three runs in the ninth inning, asÂ
Mike Brookshaw (SR, Prescott, Wis./Prescott HS) scored on a wild pitch.
Ryan Masui (SR, Excelsior, Minn./Minnetonka HS) hit a two-run double to right, driving in Dan Phyle (SO, Lakeville, Minn./Rosemount HS) and
Kyle Hoppe (SO, Andover, Minn./Andover HS).
• In addition to Masui, Brookshaw and
Clayton Bodine (SR, Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata HS) had the other Auggie hits.Â
• Six pitchers took the mound for the Auggies, with
Jake Kraft (SR, Hutchinson, Minn./Hutchinson HS) getting the start.Â
FOR THE FOESÂ
• Cole McDevitt went 3-for-5 with a double for the Golden Gophers, also scoring a run. Jordan Kozicky went 2-for-3, hitting a solo home run and a two-run double.
• Sam Thoresen pitched four innings and earned the win, striking out five batters and allowing only one hit. Seven Golden Gopher pitchers saw the mound, together striking out 13 and walking seven batters.Â

• Augsburg travels to Collegeville, Minn., this Sunday (3/31) at 12 p.m. to open up Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play with a doubleheader against Concordia College-Moorhead. The games were originally scheduled to be played on Saturday in Moorhead, Minn.
