ST. PETER, Minn. -- Behind a three-hit shutout by pitcher Jamie Kaye (SR, Bloomington, Minn./Jefferson HS), the Augsburg University baseball team scored a 2-0 win over Concordia College-Moorhead in the opening game of its Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader on Monday afternoon. The Cobbers scored a 3-0 win over the Auggies in the second game.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
• Kaye strong-armed the Auggies to a victory with his three-hit shutout, with five strikeouts against one walk. It's his third complete game of the season and first shutout in his fourth start of the season, improving to 3-1. It's his fourth career shutout and 15th career complete game in 27 career starts. The three hits allowed were the fewest by Augsburg in any game so far this season.
• Augsburg opened up its scoring in the second inning, when Troy Ouellette (JR, Robbinsdale, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong HS) doubled down the right field line, followed by back-to-back singles by Joe Rydel (SR, Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake HS) and Donovan Tomony (JR, Madison, Wis./Madison East HS) to bring him home. 
• Walker Rogers (JR, Inver Grove Heights, Minn./Simley HS) started the sixth inning off with a double to right center, moved to third on a Ryan Masui (SR, Chanhassen, Minn./Minnetonka HS) single, and scored on an Ouellete RBI single. 
• Ouellete and Rydel each had two hits in the opener for the Auggies.

GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
• Augsburg held Concordia-Moorhead to only six hits in the second game, its third-fewest this season. However, the Auggies managed just four hits of their own, and stranded seven runners on base in the loss. It is the third time this season that Augsburg has been held to four hits or less. 
• Kyle Hoppe (SO, Andover, Minn./Andover HS) went 2-for-4, singling in both the third and sixth innings. 
• Mike Brookshaw (SR, Prescott, Wis./Prescott HS) had a double for the Auggies, while Tomony added a single.
• Starting pitcher Mathew Nicklay (SO, Hastings, Minn./Hastings HS) had three strikeouts in his seven-inning effort, with Joey Tschida (JR, Lakeville, Minn./St. Thomas Academy HS) pitching an inning of scoreless relief.

FOR THE FOES 
• Pitcher Cole Christensen earned the second-game victory for the Cobbers, claiming 12 strikeouts in his four-hit shutout. 
• Sean McGuire had two hits and two RBI in the second game, while Brett Erickson had two hits in the first game.
