MINNEAPOLIS -- Behind a five-hit shutout by
Sam Anderson (SR, Coon Rapids, Minn./Coon Rapids HS), the Augsburg University softball team claimed a 1-0 win in the first game, but Carleton College scored a 11-4 win in the second game for a split of a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader on Sunday afternoon.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
• Anderson struck out four against three walks and five hits to pick up her second shutout win of the season and 13th of her career. Carleton stranded 10 runners on base in game, stranding runners in every inning -- including the bases loaded in the fourth inning and runners on second and third bases in the seventh inning.
• Anderson also helped her own cause out at the plate, driving in the lone run of the game in the fifth inning.
Anesia King (JR, Isanti, Minn./Cambridge-Isanti HS) led off the inning with a double -- her fifth straight game with an extra-base hit -- moved to third on a sacrifice bunt byÂ
Sarah Garcia (SO, St. Paul, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall HS), and scored on a fielder's choice by Anderson.

GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
• Augsburg jumped on the board early with three runs in the top of the first inning, but Carleton pounded out 14 hits and scored 11 unanswered runs in a four-inning span before the Auggies scored another run in the fifth. Three of the 11 Carleton runs were unearned, as the Knights took advantage of two Augsburg errors.

Mackenzie Evenson (JR, St. Louis Park, Minn./St. Louis Park HS) hit a three-run double to right-center in the first inning, and Anderson hit an RBI double to plate
Kayla Hanson (FY, Trimont, Minn./St. James HS) in the fifth.

Hollywood Hermanson (JR, Dover, Minn./Dover-Eyota HS), Garcia and Nichols also had base hits for the Auggies.

Elly Strunk (SO, Blooming Prairie, Minn./Blooming Prairie HS) started and struck out two in 3.1 innings of work before being relieved by Anderson, who had two strikeouts in 2.2 innings of relief.
FOR THE FOES
• Sam Kile struck out three while walking two for Carleton in the first game, while Sarah Ogle had nine strikeouts against three walks in the second-game win.
• Anna Lauko went 4-for-8 in the doubleheader with two doubles, an RBI and two runs scored. Sam Kile went 3-for-6 with a double, RBI and a run scored, and Maddie Sherwood went 2-for-4 with a triple, two runs scored and three RBI.
