ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The Augsburg University baseball team was edged 5-4 by Hamline University in a nonconference matchup on Thursday at CHS Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Auggies scored three runs in the sixth inning to take a 3-2 advantage.
Dylan Foote (JR, Oakdale, Minn./North St. Paul HS) opened up the scoring with a two-RBI double to center field, scoring
Timothy Lavin (FY, Osseo, Minn./Osseo HS) and
Chase Thomley (SO, St. Paul, Minn./Highland Park HS). Foote would later cross the plate himself, on a
Noah Thomas (FY, Woodbury, Minn./East Ridge HS) RBI groundout.
• After giving up three runs and relinquishing the lead to Hamline in the seventh inning, Augsburg scored one more run in the eighth, as
Brayden Gray (FY, Plymouth, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong HS) scored on a fielder's choice by Thomas.
• Foote and Dan Phyle were both 2-for-3 in the game. The Auggies amassed nine hits, all singles except for Foote's double in the sixth inning.
• It was a game intended for multiple players to get a chance to see game action, and that played through, especially for the pitchers. Seven pitchers saw the mound for Augsburg. As a group, they gave up five runs on 11 hits, with striking out two against five walks.
FOR THE FOES
• Tyler Brick hit a two-run homer for the Pipers. Zack Langton was 2-for-4, with a run and a RBI. Jake Dujmovic had two hits and two walks.
• Hamline used five different pitchers through nine innings, allowing four runs on nine hits, striking out 10 against two walks.
