Auggies rally for double-OT win at Concordia-Chicago

RIVER FOREST, Ill. -- Mikayla Jones (JR, Oak Park Heights, Minn./B.E. Emerson Prep HS) scored four goals, including the game-winner with 2:24 left in the second overtime, to give the Augsburg University women's lacrosse team a 13-12 victory over Concordia University-Chicago in a Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference game on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Augsburg rallied from deficits three times in the final 20 minutes of the second half to force overtime, with Megan Furlong (SO, Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake HS) tying the game at 12-12 on a goal from Annika Hegrenes (JR, Maplewood, Minn./Concordia Academy HS) with 2:10 left in regulation time. Jones then scored her fourth goal of the game, and 17th of the season, with 2:24 left in the second sudden-death overtime.
• Jones also contributed an assist for a five-point day, while also adding a ground ball and caused turnover.
• Hegrenes scored three goals with an assist for a four-point afteroon, adding four groud balls, two caused turnovers and five draw controls.
• Allie Tuccitto (SO, Rosemount, Minn./Eastview HS) scored two goals with an assist, adding two ground balls. 
• Hannah Mincy (FY, Des Moines, Iowa/Urbandale HS) scored a goal with two ground balls, while Furlong, Mikayla Knudson (JR, Zimmerman, Minn./Elk River HS) and Annabelle Arns (FY, Monticello, Minn./Monticello HS) had a goal and ground ball each.
• Christina Nelson (SR, Bloomington, Minn./Kennedy HS) had nine draw controls, five caused turnovers, three ground balls and an assist in the game.
• Goalie Maddie Seykora (SO, Owatonna, Minn./Owatonna HS) returned to the lineup after missing her last game due to injury and collected 12 saves -- her fifth double-digit save effort of the season -- while addig two ground balls.
• Isabelle Gasser (SO, Hutchinson, Minn./Hutchinson HS) and Demey Everett (JR, Brooklyn Center, Minn./Champlin Park HS) had two ground balls and a caused turnover each.
• Concordia-Chicago outshot Augsburg by a 32-25 margin, but Augsburg held a 23-17 advatage in ground balls and 15-13 advantage in draw controls. Both teams had 15 clears each.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
• The game is just the second overtime game in the six-year history of the Augsburg women's lacrosse program, and the first to ever go to a second overtime. The first overtime game in Augsburg women's lacrosse history was an 8-7 loss at Illinois Tech on March 19, 2017.

FOR THE FOES
• Anna Kellar scored five goals to lead Concordia-Chicago, while Margaret Doane had two goals and two assists, adding five ground balls, three draw controls and two caused turnovers. Sydney Fuller scored two goals with three assists, five draw controls and two caused turnovers.
• Alexis Gandhi had six saves in goal for the Cougars.
