IIT uses 2nd-half run to pull away from Auggies

CHICAGO, Ill. -- Outscoring Augsburg University by an 8-3 margin in the second half, including a stretch of five unanswered goals, the Illinois Institute of Technology pulled away for a 13-6 win over the visiting Auggies in a Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference game on Sunday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Illinois Tech used two scoring runs -- a four-goal run over a 4:20 span early in the game, and then a five-goal run in the final 20 minutes of play -- to claim the victory. Illinois Tech outshot Augsburg by a 35-21 margin in the game and had 14 draw controls to Augsburg's seven.
Annika Hegrenes (JR, Maplewood, Minn./Concordia Academy HS) scored three goals to lead Augsburg, adding two ground balls, a draw control and a caused turnover.
Allie Tuccitto (SO, Rosemount, Minn./Eastview HS) scored a goal with an assist, adding two ground balls and a draw control.
• Mikayla Jones (JR, Oak Park Heights, Minn./B.E. Emerson Prep HS) scored a goal with two ground balls, two draw controls and a caused turnover, and McKenna Ellena (SO, Wales, Wis./Kettle Moraine HS) scored a goal with a ground ball and two caused turnovers.
Christina Nelson (SR, Bloomington, Minn./Kennedy HS) had four draw controls, two ground balls and a caused turnover.
Mikayla Knudson (JR, Zimmerman, Minn./Elk River HS) had two ground balls and three caused turnovers, while Hannah Mincy (FY, Des Moines, Iowa/Urbandale HS) had two ground balls and two caused turnovers, and Kassie Diaz (SR, Bloomington, Minn./Kennedy HS) had two ground balls and a caused turnover.
• Goalie Maddie Seykora (SO, Owatonna, Minn./Owatonna HS) claimed 10 saves, to go along with four ground balls.
