MINNEAPOLIS -- A total of 82 Augsburg University student-athletes earned 88 academic all-conference honors during the 2018-19 school year, while six Augsburg wrestlers earned National Wrestling Coaches Association Division III Scholar All-American honors, it has been announced.

Thirty Augsburg student-athletes earned Academic All-Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference honors from fall sports, while 48 Auggies earned Academic All-MIAC honors from winter and spring sports (six student-athletes earned Academic All-MIAC honors in multiple sports). In addition, 10 Augsburg women's lacrosse players earned Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference All-Academic Team honors this spring, bringing the grand total to 88 academic all-conference honors earned by 82 Augsburg student-athletes in 2018-19.

Student-athletes must be a sophomore, junior, or senior (transfers must have spent a full year at their current school) with a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.50 on a 4.00 scale to qualify for MIAC Academic All-Conference recognition.

Athletically, student-athletes in basketball, hockey, baseball and softball must compete in 50 percent of their team's varsity regular-season contests (baseball pitchers must have made five appearances or 20 innings pitched, and hockey goalies must have played in at least one-third of their team's total minutes to be eligible). Athletes in track and field must have scored in an individual event (finishing in the top eight) or compete in relay events in conference championship meets to be eligible. Athletes in swimming and diving must have finished in the top 16 individually or compete in relay events in the conference championship meet to be eligible, and golfers must have competed in a minimum of 12 competitive rounds or played in the MIAC championships to be eligible.

Student-athletes in women's lacrosse, regardless of year, with cumulative GPAs of 3.30 or better are named to the MWLC All-Academic Team.

Six Augsburg student-athletes were named to the National Wrestling Coaches Association's Division III Scholar All-America team for 2018-19. Over the past 34 seasons, Augsburg has produced 159 NWCA Scholar All-Americans. Augsburg has had 136 student-athletes honored since 1997.

According to the NWCA, "Nominees must have at least a 3.2 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) for the previous full academic year. Transfers and freshmen are eligible if they've been in residence at their current institution beginning in the fall of 2017. On the competition side, wrestlers much be a national qualifier in 2017-18 and have a minimum win percentage of at least .500. Additionally, wrestlers can also be considered if they placed in the top six at their respective regional tournament, a win percentage of .500 or better and competed in half of the institution's scheduled competition in NCAA championship events. A wrestler can also be considered if they have a win percentage of .670 or better and competed in half of the institution's scheduled NCAA events."

As a team, Augsburg finished 18th in the NWCA's Division III Scholar All-America Team national rankings with a 3.537 team GPA. According to the NWCA, "The team GPA was calculated by averaging the GPAs of the 10 regional starters, plus as many as four other team members who competed in at least 50 percent of the team's scheduled competitions."
