Men's hockey drops 3-1 decision to defending champs

STEVENS POINT, Wis. -- Outshot by a 36-22 margin in the game, the Augsburg University men's hockey team dropped a 3-1 decision at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, the defending NCAA Division III national champions, on Saturday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Ben Henderson (SO, North Branch, Minn./Totino-Grace HS) scored the lone goal of the game for the Auggies, scoring at the 2:40 mark of the second period on an assist by John O'Connor (SR, Moorhead, Minn./Moorhead HS).
• Erik Palmqvist (FY, Linkoping, Sweden/Anderstorpsgymnasiet) had five shots on goal for Augsburg, while Gavin Holland (SO, Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater HS) had four shots.
• Goalie Daniil Gerasimov (JR, Moscow, Russia/State School 1944) had 33 saves for the Auggies.
• Augsburg entered the weekend ranked No. 5 in the latest USCHO.com Division III national poll, while UW-Stevens Point was receiving votes in the top-15 poll.

FOR THE FOES
