Auggies score 4-1 win over Yellowjackets

MINNEAPOLIS -- Behind the first collegiate multi-goal game by Mikayla Jones (SR, Oak Park Heights, Minn./B.E. Emerson Prep HS), the Augsburg University women's hockey team scored an impressive 4-1 nonconference victory over the University of Wisconsin-Superior on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Jones scored a pair of goals for the Auggies -- a goal from Ellie Tabaka (SR, Maplewood, Minn./Tartan HS) at the 7:50 mark of the first period, and another goal from Jeanette Bealke (SR, White Bear Lake, Minn./White Bear Lake HS) and Tabaka at the 18:52 mark of the second period.
• Bridget Wagner (SR, Niles, Ill./Maine South HS) scored a shorthanded, unassisted goal halfway through the first period, and Katie Flynn (FY, Woodbury, Minn./East Ridge HS) capped the scoring with a goal from Hollywood Hermanson (SR, Dover, Minn./Dover-Eyota HS) midway through the third period.
• Augsburg outshot UW-Superior by a 28-18 margin -- the eighth game, and sixth in a row, that Augsburg has outshot its opponents so far this season.
• Abby Bollig (SO, Farmington, Minn./Farmington HS) had 17 saves in goal for the Auggies, improving to 5-1-0 on the season.

FOR THE FOES
• Megan Dulong scored a power-play goal from Jenna Curtis at the 13:20 mark of the second period for UW-Superior.
• Catherine Johnson had 24 saves in goal.

UP NEXT
• Augsburg returns to Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play with a series next weekend against Bethel. Next Friday's (1/17) game is at 7 p.m. at Ed Saugestad Rink, and next Saturday's (1/18) game is at 3 p.m. at the NSC Super Rink in Blaine, Minn.
